iPhone 8 Case – Stainless Steel Design

In honor of its 10th anniversary of exceptional device manufacturing, Apple is pulling out all the stops for its upcoming iPhone 8. Recent reports indicate that Apple intends to adopt a stainless steel frame for the iPhone 8, moving away from the standard aluminum casing. This change aims to elevate the smartphone’s aesthetic, giving it a more luxurious appearance.

Anticipated upgrades for the forthcoming iPhone model suggest a departure from the traditional aluminum rear cover in favor of an innovative construction. This new approach will involve utilizing dual-reinforced glass panels with a metal frame sandwiched between them. The frame is expected to be crafted from stainless steel, and forged to bolster durability while simultaneously cutting production costs and time.

iPhone 8 Case – Stainless Steel Design Overview

Apple previously utilized stainless steel frames in the iPhone 4S, and now plans to revisit this durable material. The manufacturing process begins by cutting out a panel, followed by casting molten steel into a mold and then cooling it. This robust stainless steel frame will be encased between glass layers to enhance scratch resistance and longevity. Reflecting on the success of the glossy black iPhone 7, Apple has decided to pursue this design direction to meet consumer preferences. Partnering with Foxconn Electronics and Jabil, Apple will undertake the production of these sturdy frames.

The iPhone 8 is anticipated to make its debut in September. Currently, it remains uncertain if Apple will incorporate stainless steel frames in all three of its upcoming models—the iPhone 8, iPhone 8S, and iPhone Pro—with the iPhone Pro being earmarked as the high-end offering. Given that stainless steel is pricier than aluminum, this premium material may be reserved exclusively for the top-tier iPhone 8 case stainless steel design variant.
