The description of Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman includes:

  • Android 2.3 operating system
  • 768MB RAM, 16GB storage memory
  • 5mm length; 70.7mm width as well as 9.9mm thickness
  • A display of 4.7inches in addition 480 x 800pixels display resolution
  • It weighs 162.5g
  • Price of £418

Memory

The good point:

  • 16GB of internal storage memory is enough for ordinary use, but still a limitation.

The point that needs improvement:

  • HTC is renowned for making standard phones, but this time, a fatal mistake has been made by the company with Sensation XL.
  • It has no memory expansion feature; this is very unusual for an Android phone.
  • Out of 16GB, a 12.6GB of internal storage is all that is available for the user.
  • Without external storage, so the user must have limited apps and data.
  • Furthermore, music and video take up a lot of storage which results in people wishing for a microSD card.
  • The reason for omitting the external storage in Sensation XL is that HTC has used much of its designs from the Windows Phone based on HTC Titan, which doesn’t support external memory.

Audio

  • The beats audio are incorporated in Sensation XL.
  • To make the most of the audio experience Sensation XL comes with a set of quality headphones that have inline control,

Display

The good points:

  • With a 4.7 inch display, 480x 800pixels display resolution gives awesome video viewing experience.
  • The 4.7 inch of screen space is stunning to use for web browsing, reading emails and various activities.

The point that needs improvement:

  • The pixel density of Sensation XE was pretty smooth, having 256 pixels per inch, but XL only has 199ppi. It is very much inferior on the display scale as compared to its predecessors.
  • It is also inferior to Samsung Galaxy Nexus if compared to the display resolution.

Camera

  • Touch focusing and 8MP helps you take snapshot exactly as you want them.
  • Low light photos are not really great but better because of the LED flash.
  • Video recording of 720p is sufficient for most smartphone users.
  • There is also a 1.3megapixel front camera.

HTC Sensation XL

Performance

  • 5GHz has a very smooth running, no delays are experienced during video rendering, downloading and browsing.
  • HTC sense is doing an outstanding job, smoothing out some of the rougher edges of Gingerbread.

Battery

  • Sensation XL has a great battery life. It will easily get you through the day, but if you are a frugal user, it will be more than enough for you

HTC Sensation XL Review: The Verdict

Finally, HTC Sensation XL is very consistent. It comes with fast performance with a great screen but low resolution. It could have been a great smartphone, but due to the absence of external storage it’s standard has been somewhat lowered. Furthermore, with its sales declining because of the competitive market it has been a tough year for HTC. Nowadays not of HTC’s handsets are strong enough to hold their own in the market.
