Snapdragon 835 Phone: LG G6 Will Not Utilize the Chipset

LG is determined to outshine Samsung this year with its highly anticipated flagship, the LG G6. Initial rumors surrounding the device suggested that it would feature Qualcomm’s latest processor, the Snapdragon 835. However, recent news from Forbes indicates that this is not the case. Samsung reportedly secured the initial supply of the Snapdragon 835 chipset for their Galaxy S8, leaving LG to explore alternative options for their upcoming flagship.

Snapdragon 835 Phone: LG G6 – Overview

It comes as no surprise that Samsung has obtained the initial supply of the Snapdragon 835 chipset, considering its involvement in its production utilizing the highly advanced 10nm process. This technological breakthrough has resulted in a 20% increase in speed and improved energy efficiency. Notably, Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 chipset is also manufactured using the same 10nm process, and both the Exynos and Snapdragon 835 will be integrated into the production of the Galaxy S8. Samsung strategically ensured exclusive access to the initial supply, preventing competitors from acquiring it until their device was unveiled.

As a result, the LG G6 and other flagship devices set to launch in the first half of the year will have to settle for the Snapdragon 821 chipset. According to Forbes, the availability of the Snapdragon 835 in substantial quantities will only occur after the release of the Galaxy S8. With the Galaxy S8 slated for a mid-April launch, this delay will impact the schedules of companies intending to utilize this highly sought-after chipset.

LG is employing a strategic approach this time around to boost its market shares by launching the LG G6 earlier than its competitors. While not having access to the Snapdragon 835 chipset may appear to be a setback, LG is focusing on other key aspects to drive the sales of their device. By consistently promoting the LG G6, they aim to generate significant hype among users. Furthermore, the design changes implemented in the device are expected to tilt the balance in LG’s favor, further strengthening its position in the market.
