  • To enable USB debugging on your OnePlus 3T, go to Settings > About Device > tap build number 7 times to unlock developer options. Then, enable USB debugging and “OEM Unlocking” if available.

Necessary Downloads & Installations

  1. Download and proceed to install the OnePlus USB drivers.
  2. Download and install the Minimal ADB & Fastboot drivers.
  3. After unlocking the bootloader, download the SuperSu.zip file and transfer it to the internal storage of your phone.

Bypass OnePlus 3T Bootloader Lock

Unlocking the bootloader will result in the erasure of your device. Before proceeding, ensure that you have backed up all necessary data.

  1. Ensure that you have downloaded and installed the Minimal ADB & Fastboot drivers on your Windows PC or have installed Mac ADB & Fastboot for Mac.
  2. Now, establish a connection between your phone and your PC.
  3. Open the “Minimal ADB & Fastboot.exe” file on your desktop. If not found, navigate to C drive > Program Files > Minimal ADB & Fastboot, then press the Shift key + right-click an empty area and select “Open command window here”.
  4. Enter the following commands individually in the command window.

    adb reboot-bootloader

This command will restart your Nvidia Shield in bootloader mode. Once it has rebooted, enter the following command.

fastboot devices

By executing this command, you can confirm the successful connection between your device and PC in fastboot mode.

fastboot oem unlock

  5. Open the Minimal ADB & Fastboot.exe file, as mentioned in step 3.

    • fastboot devices
    • fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    • fastboot boot recovery.imgThis command will boot your device into TWRP recovery mode.
  7. TWRP will ask for system modification permission. Swipe right to trigger dm-verity verification, then flash SuperSU.
  8. Tap on “Install” to flash SuperSU. If your phone’s storage is not working, perform a data wipe, then go back to the main menu, select “Mount”, and tap on “Mount USB Storage”.
  9. Once USB storage is mounted, connect your phone to your PC and transfer the SuperSU.zip file to your device.
  10. Throughout this entire process, make sure not to restart your phone. Stay in the TWRP recovery mode.
  11. Return to the main menu and select “Install” once again. Locate the SuperSU.zip file that you have recently copied and proceed to flash it.
  12. Once SuperSU has been successfully flashed, restart your phone. Congratulations, you have completed the process.
  13. After the reboot, locate the SuperSU app in your app drawer. To verify root access, install the Root Checker app.

To manually boot into TWRP recovery mode on your OnePlus 3T, turn off your device, then press and hold Volume Down + Power Key while turning it on. Continue holding the Volume Down key until your device boots into TWRP recovery mode.
