Install Android Lollipop, Then Root And Enable Native Tethering On A Verizon Galaxy S5 G900V

Install Android Lollipop

Samsung has been releasing updates to Android 5.0 Lollipop for most of its mainstream devices.  It already released the update for their Galaxy S5 line-up about five months ago.

The update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Verizon variant of the Galaxy S5, the G900V, was released about a month ago.  If you have a Verizon Galaxy S5 G900V and you want to update your device we have the guide for you.  We will be showing you two ways to install this firmware, one without root and the other with root.  We will also be guiding you on how to enable Native Tethering.

Prepare your phone:

  1. This guide is only for the Verizon Galaxy S5 G900V
  2. Charge device so battery has 50 percent power to make sure you don’t run out of power before flashing finishes.
  3. Back up important contacts, SMS messages, call logs and media content.
  4. Back up device’s EFS partition.
  5. If you have custom recovery, create a Nandroid backup.

Note: The methods needed to flash custom recoveries, roms and to root your phone can result in bricking your device.  Rooting your device will also void the warranty and it will no longer be eligible for free device services from manufacturers or warranty providers.  Be responsible and keep these in mind before you decide to proceed on your own responsibility.  In case a mishap occurs, we or the device manufacturers should never be held responsible.
