Android Lollipop And Enable WiFi Tethering On A AT&T Galaxy S4 Active I537

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Active is a waterproof and dust resistant version of their original Galaxy.  In the US, the device comes from AT&T and has the model number SGH-I537.

The Galaxy S4 Active is getting an update to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop.  In this guide we are going to show you how you two different methods you can use to update a Galaxy S4 Active SGH I537 to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop I537UCUCOC6 firmware.  We are also going to show you how you can root it after updating and how to enable WiFi tethering.

Prepare your phone:

  1. This guide should only be used with the AT&T Galaxy S4 Active SGH I537
  2. Charge the device so the battery has 50 percent of its power. This is to make sure that you don’t run out of power before flashing ends.
  3. Back up all of your important SMS messages, call logs and contacts as well as any important media content.
  4. Back up the EFS partition of your device.
  5. If you have a custom recovery installed, create a Nandroid backup.

Note: The methods needed to flash custom recoveries, roms and to root your phone can result in bricking your device.  Rooting your device will also void the warranty and it will no longer be eligible for free device services from manufacturers or warranty providers.  Be responsible and keep these in mind before you decide to proceed on your own responsibility.  In case a mishap occurs, we or the device manufacturers should never be held responsible.
