How To: Use ViperOneM8 1.1.0 To Update A HTC One M8 To Android 4.4.2 Kit-Kat

Guide to Use ViperOneM8 1.1.0

If you want to get Android 4.4.2 KitKat on your HTC One M8, we recommend you download and install the ViperOneM8 1.1.0 custom ROM.

As this is not a official update from HTC, you’re going to need a custom recovery on your One M8 and your also going to need to root it.  But otherwise the ViperOne M8 1.1.0 is easy to use. Just follow along with our guide below.

Prepare your phone:

  1. This ROM is only for use with the HTC One M8. Check the model of your device by going to Setting>About
  2. Charge your battery so that it has 60-80 percent of its battery life.
  3. Make a back up of all your important messages, contacts, and call logs.
  4. Make a back up of the Mobiles EFS Data.
  5. Enable your devices USB debugging mode
  6. Download HTC USB Driver
  7. Unlock your bootloader

Note: The methods needed to flash custom recoveries, roms and to root your phone can result in bricking your device. Rooting your device will also void the warranty and it will no longer be eligible for free device services from manufacturers or warranty providers. Be responsible and keep these in mind before you decide to proceed on your own responsibility. In case a mishap occurs, we or the device manufacturers should never be held responsible.
