Install Android Lollipop On A Galaxy S4 Mini I9192

The Galaxy S4 Mini dual SIM variant, the I9192, has received the unofficial Lollipop treatment from XDA senior member k2wl. Though this ROM for the Galaxy S4 Mini Duos is in early development stages, the basic functions are working and this ROM is a good choice for want to break free from the Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware found in the Galaxy S4 Mini Duos.

In this guide we will be installing unofficial CyanogenMod 12.0 custom ROM on a Galaxy S4 Mini Duos GT-I9192  to update it to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Keep in mind that this is custom firmware and there’s a chance for bugs. Only proceed if you are a custom ROM fan and you can take mishaps that can occur while flashing a custom operating systems. Newbies are recommended to do this.

Early Preparations

1. This guide is only for use with the Galaxy S4 Mini Duos GT-I9192. If you use this guide on another device, it could brick the device.
   • To check what device you have try either of these two paths
     • Settings > More/General > About Device
     • Settings > About Device
     • You should see the model number.

2. Battery life should be up to at least 60 percent.
   • If the device does dead before flashing process, the device could be bricked.
3. Have a Custom Recovery flashed.
4. Back up everything

• SMS Messages
• Call Logs
• Contacts
• Media
• If rooted, back up EFS
• If rooted, used Titanium Backup for apps, system and other important contend.
• Back up Nandroid by using CWM or TWRP recovery.

Note: The methods needed to flash custom recoveries, roms and to root your phone can result in bricking your device. Rooting your device will also void the warranty and it will no longer be eligible for free device services from manufacturers or warranty providers. Be responsible and keep these in mind before you decide to proceed on your own responsibility. In case a mishap occurs, we or the device manufacturers should never be held responsible.

How To Install Android Lollipop On Galaxy S4 Mini I9192 Using CyanogenMod 12 Custom ROM

1. Download  the following files

•  cm-12-20141123.zip file for Galaxy S4 Mini I9192. here
• Google Gapps.zip file.

2. Connect phone to PC now.
3. Copy both of the the .zip files downloaded in step 1to your phone storage.
4. Disconnect phone and turn off complete.
5. Boot phone into Philz CWM recovery

• Turn on by pressing and holding the volume, home and power keys simultaneously.

6. From Philz CWM recovery select wipe option and wipe the following:

•  Cache
•  factory data reset
• dalvik cache.

7. After wiping these three, select the “Install” option.
8. Install -> Choose Zip from SD card / locate the zip file- > Select CM-12 ROM.zip file-> Yes.
9. ROMshould flash on your phone.’

 

10. Return to in recovery and select “Install” again.

 

11. Install – > Choose zip from SD card / locatethe file-> zipfile -> Yes.
12. Gappswill flash on your phone.
13. Reboot device. First reboot should take up to 10 minutes

 

If you followed the guide correctly, you should now see Android 5.0 Lollipop CM 12.0 running on your Galaxy S4 Mini.
