Best S8 Features Leaks Confirm Changes

The tech world is abuzz with rumors about Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S8. Each day brings new snippets of information, from renders to cases that have sparked curiosity and sometimes even confusion. VentureBeat has now released a new image of the Samsung Galaxy S8, confirming several key details that were previously rumors.

Consistent with its tradition, Samsung will release two versions of its flagship S-series: the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, both featuring curved displays. Renderings have consistently shown this feature. The company will not offer a flat-screen option for the Galaxy S8. The Galaxy S8 will be available in two sizes, with 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED displays.

One of the prominent design changes that has been speculated is the removal of the home button. In the leaked image, we observe the absence of a home button and an increased display size achieved through minimized bezels. The fingerprint scanner, typically integrated into the home button of the Galaxy S6 and S7, has been relocated to the rear of the device. This shift is clearly illustrated in the image, where the scanner is positioned next to the camera. Confirming recent reports, the leaked image settles the debate by revealing that the fingerprint scanner will indeed be located on the back of the device, dispelling earlier rumors of it being embedded in the display.

Best S8 Features – Overview

The Best S8 features a Snapdragon 835 processor, crafted through the advanced 10nm fabrication process. Chips manufactured using this method offer an 11% speed boost and a 20% improvement in energy efficiency. The Galaxy S8 will be the pioneer flagship to incorporate this processor. Complementing the processor, the device will boast 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable to 256GB via an SD card.

The camera setup in the Samsung Galaxy S8 will resemble that of the impressive Galaxy S7, featuring a 12-megapixel (f1.7) rear camera and an 8-megapixel (f1.7) front camera with enhancements. Noteworthy improvements include visual search capabilities in the main camera, where on-screen icons guide users in selecting search types. Moreover, the Galaxy S8 will retain the iris scanner introduced in Note 7, positioned alongside the front camera for added security and convenience.

Further observations indicate that Samsung has retained the 3.5 mm headphone jack and will utilize a USB-C port for device charging. The Galaxy S8 will incorporate Samsung’s digital assistant, Bixby, with deep integration into native apps, featuring a dedicated button. Additionally, the Galaxy S8 will offer Samsung DeX functionality.

Samsung typically reveals its S-series flagships at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) annually, but this year, the launch has been postponed by a month. The unveiling is now scheduled for March 29th at a dedicated event to be held in the USA and Europe. The two versions of the Galaxy S8 will retail at a €100 premium over the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, priced at €799 and €899, respectively.
