The New SHIELD Tablet LTE

There are several improvements done to make the SHIELD Tablet LTE the power device that it is:
– Bigger storage. The 16gb model is quite limited and is easy to fill up. There are several games that require big storage nowadays, so the additional storage is really an up.
– It still has a slot for an SD card so if you’re still in need for an additional storage, you still have that option.
– The device is now LTE capable with Bands 2, 4, 5, 6, 17 and HSPA+ Band 1, 2, 4, 5 in North America, and LTE Bands 1,3, 7, 20, and HSPA+ Bands 1, 2, 5, 8 for areas outside North America.
– The device now has mobile data. The SHIELD Tablet can work on the AT&T network in the United States, as well as with T-Mobile and other GSM LTE networks.

AT&T’s LTE coverage works well for web browsing and the like, and it’s also great for GameStream if you have 5mbps to 10mbps. Aside from those additional features, the SHIELD Tablet LTE is similar to the WiFi version. The performance is still fast, and gaming is an enjoyable experience

The updates on the SHIELD Tablet LTE should not be a problem, too. Unlike other devices such as the Nexus 7 LTE where carriers often become hindrances for timely updates, NVIDIA said that they push out OTA updates to both versions at the same time. Hence updates for the SHIELD Tablet WiFi and LTE models will come at the same time – a huge relief for all users.

Along with the release of the SHIELD Tablet LTE, the SHIELD Controller has also regained an additional functionality. It can now become a controller that is USB-connected. All you have to do is get the latest version of the GeForce Experience and connect the controller through a USB. It will allow you to update the controller by adding PC compatibility.

It’s great to get a SHIELD Tablet LTE. Those who waited for this model made the right decision – it’s more expensive by a few hundred bucks, but given the bigger storage and the mobile data availability, the SHIELD Tablet LTE is so worth it.
