3.5 mm Jack & USB-C Port Leak on Galaxy S8

Samsung has faced a dilemma regarding the inclusion of the 3.5 mm jack in their devices. Earlier rumors indicated that they would follow Apple’s lead and remove the jack from the Galaxy S8. However, a recent render suggests otherwise. It appears that Samsung has opted for a more cautious approach with their upcoming flagship, focusing on implementing other design changes first and saving the removal of the jack for a later time.

3.5 mm Jack & USB-C Port Leak on Galaxy S8 – Overview

Accessory manufacturers often receive information about device specifications to produce compatible cases in time for the device’s release. The leaked render includes an opening for the 3.5 mm jack, suggesting that it will indeed be included in the upcoming flagship device. Additionally, it appears that the Galaxy S8 will also feature a USB-C port.

On the back of the case, there is a noticeable cutout for the camera, suggesting that the rumored dual camera setup will not be present in the smartphone. However, if Samsung decides to use the same camera specifications as the Galaxy S7, it would still be an excellent choice as that device is known for producing impressive images. On the side of the case, there are three buttons, aligning with the details seen in the Ghostek render from yesterday. The volume button and power/standby button are positioned on one side. At the top of the case, there is a cutout for the micro-SD card, which is a highly desired feature among consumers.

Further updates on the Galaxy S8 are anticipated to surface in the upcoming days. There are expectations for the device to be unveiled either at MWC 2017 or during a dedicated event on April 18th. The device is projected to be available for purchase in mid-April. Samsung is taking additional time to thoroughly test and minimize any potential issues, to avoid a situation similar to the Note 7 controversy.
